National Museum of Ethnology
A walk through the permanent exhibition in the museum, completely remodelled since April 2001, is a worldwide walk. Films of distant and unfamiliar places set the scene: this is a voyage of discovery.
Large wall projections in the rooms show how contacts are made between cultures.
For instance from India to China, from China to Korea - and on to Japan.
From room to room there is a track that the cultures have laid out themselves in the course of the centuries. And there are always living people to be seen - whether from centuries ago or now, at present, or even in the future. This is a museum of exceptional encounters.
